About Us
Mary E. Tessman, MA, LCPC, also known as Mira, is a Licensed Psychotherapist with a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola College that she earned in 1989. She has worked in a variety of settings including a psychiatric hospital, a school for severely emotional disturbed children, community clinics and schools. She was co-founder and co-director of The Heart’s Journey Wellness Center in Towson from 2002-2007.
Since 1985, Mary has also studied a range of holistic, experiential, integrative, and psychospiritual approaches that affirm the whole person and the complex relationships among individual facets of the mind, body, and spirit including Gestalt and Jungian Psychology, intuitive processing, somatic release, authentic movement, mindfulness practices, conscious breathwork, Shadow Work®, and Voice Dialogue®. Mary has facilitated groups, classes, workshops, and trainings for the past 19 years including yoga and meditation classes, Authentic Movement, Stillwaters Women’s Circle, In Terra’s Lap, Inanna Rising, Wellspring Women’s Circle, Samyama Healing Meditation, Comforting the Heart for Widows, Sacred Collage, Dream Dancing, Prayer Dance, sacred feminine archetypes, and personal growth workshops using expressive arts therapies such as voice, writing, mask-making, painting, dance/movement, clay work, and art-making. Mary also teaches meditation and yoga at homeless shelters in Baltimore City. Among the combination of traditional, integrative, and intuitive approaches, Mary offers a safe, nurturing, holding environment where she accompanies clients on their journeys towards healing and wholeness. She is honored and privileged to serve and witness the unfolding miracles in others.
